Fiber optic links are the preferred media type for mission-critical links in data centers, backbones in and between buildings, and networks serving campuses over longer distances. Fiber is increasingly preferred in the marketplace for use with innovative technologies that are required to support exploding bandwidth demands. As a result, the need for fiber testing and certification has grown at a substantial rate. 

Selecting correct test standards such as ISO/IEC 14763-3, TIA-568-C or EN50173 amongst many others is important. Not only is compliance with industry standards required before cabling manufacturers issue warranty statements, but to installers and contractors it is also a proof of good workmanship.
